The Emerald combined cattle sale today saw 1122 head penned. Cattle were drawn from all local regions with the inclusion of lines from Glendon, Charters Towers and Mt Coolon. With the August feature store sale on Tuesday this week, todays yarding consisted mostly of heavier prime cattle and the balance being mixed quality stores. All the usual meatworks buyers were present with a softening trend of 20-30 c/kg cheaper across most prime descriptions. Bullocks topped at 424.2c/kg to average 377c/kg, whilst a good supply of prime heifers topped at 380.2c/kg to average 350c/kg. Heavy cows reached 340.2c/kg to average 317c/kg, whilst bulls sold to good competition again reaching 407.2c/kg to average 379c/kg. As mentioned, the store section today was very limited in supply, quality and type so hard to quote against recent sales.

Xander Armstrong “Coolabah Plains” Comet, sold Charolais x heifers topping the prime heifer market at 380.2c/kg weighing 546 kgs to return $2,076/head.

KR & MD Hoch “Vinabel” Alpha, Sold Angus x cows weighing 660 kgs which made 326.2c/kg to return $2,152/head.
