Emerald Prime & Store Sale – 24/09/2026
Emerald Combined Agents yarded a reduced offering of 1,650 head, with a mixed quality offering presented across both the prime and store sections. Cattle were drawn from all local and surrounding areas. The usual panel of buyers was in attendance, with healthy competition shown for better-quality cattle. The prime market remained generally firm, with well-finished cattle continuing to attract solid buyer support, while plainer types met more selective competition. The bullock offering this week consisted of well-finished older bullocks, topping at 448.2c/kg to average 440c/kg. Heavy local cows were limited in supply, reaching an isolated top of 374.2c/kg to average 361.4c/kg, whilst heavy bulls sold to a top of 398.2c/kg to average 337.7c/kg. The store section was also mixed in quality, with better-bred and well-presented lines continuing to attract strong competition. Plainer and out-of-spec cattle met more selective demand, with quality having a noticeable influence on values across the respective categories. Feeder steers were in good supply this week topped at 502.2c/kg to average 461c/kg with a large percentage of the feeder steer offering displayed Bos indicus content. Weaner steers reached an isolated top of 520.2c/kg, with the majority of the weaner steer offering selling between 430c/kg and 450c/kg. Trade-weight feeder heifers sold to a top of 414c/kg, while the weaner heifer offering was mixed in quality and sold to a top of 402.2c/kg to average 340c/kg.
