Emerald Prime & Store Sale – 30/07/2026
The Emerald combined cattle sale saw a very mixed quality yarding of 938 head come to hand. Cattle were drawn from all local regions with cattle starting to show signs of the turning of the season. With the August feature weaner & feeder cattle sale next Tuesday the 4th August, todays yarding consisted mostly of heavier cattle and a very mixed and plain quality yarding of stores. All the usual meatworks buyers were present and operating in a slightly cheaper market for all descriptions except heavy bulls. Bullocks very limited in supply topped at 412.2c/kg to average 399c/kg, whilst heavy prime heifers reached 391.2c/kg to average 381c/kg. Heavy local cows topped at 360.2c/kg to average 348c/kg, whilst heavy bulls continue to attract strong competition reaching 421.2c/kg to average 372.2c/kg. As mentioned, the store component of the yarding today was very mixed in quality, type and supply, therefore hard to quote against recent weeks.
Highlights
Raymond Cattle Company “Raymond” Springsure – Sold Santa Gertrudis heifers topping the prime heifer market at 391.2c/kg weighing 558 kgs to return $2,182/head.
WH Kettle & Co “Kulumur” Emerald – Sold a line of Brahman cross cows topping at 352.2c/kg weighing 576 kgs to return $2.031/head.
SG Hoch “Kerand” Alpha- Sold Droughtmaster cows weighing 606 kgs which made 347.2c/kg to return $2,106/head. Gabe also sold Hereford prime heifers weighing 520 kgs which made 387.2c/kg to return $2,013/head.
Gladys Holmes “Alamay” Yamala – Sold Brangus prime heifers weighing 478 kgs which made 387.2c/kg to return $1,853/head.
DM & KF Luke “Bimbah” Clermont – Sold Brahman Cross bullocks weighing 623 kgs which made 401.2c/kg to return $2,500/head.
