Emerald Prime & Store Sale Market Report – 20/08/2026

Emerald Prime & Store Sale Market Report – 20/08/2026

The Emerald Combined Agents yarded a total of 1,286 head. This week’s yarding was again mixed in quality and type. We are also starting to see seasonal conditions play effect on some cattle. Cattle were drawn from across the local regions, with additional lines presented from Nebo and Charters Towers. The usual panel of meatworks buyers were in attendance, with the prime market remaining firm for cows and bullocks, while heavy heifers experienced a dearer trend. The store section was again mixed in quality however, better-quality lines of weaners and feeders attracted healthy competition. Feeder steers topped at 460.2c/kg and averaged 410c/kg, while weaner steers reached 480.2c/kg and averaged 415c/kg. Feeder heifers were very limited in supply, topping at 418.2c/kg. Weaner heifers attracted stronger competition this week, topping at 400.2c/kg and averaging 308c/kg. Overall, better-quality cattle met improved competition today, while the plainer, lesser-quality types experienced a softer trend.
