1400 Head was yarded for this years annual Clermont Beef Expo, cattle were consigned mostly from the local supply area as well as the Dysart, Nebo, Alpha and Rubyvale districts. A very good quality yarding of cattle sold to a very strong market and was met with strong buying competition from local and southern processors, local and southern feedlot buyers as well as local re-stockers. Steers 600-750kg Grain Fed sold to 402c/kg and Grass Fed 358c/kg, Steers 500-600kg Grain Fed sold to 400c/kg and Grass Fed 366c/kg, Steers 400-500kg sold to 376c/kg to average 352c/kg, Steers 300-400kg sold to 396c/kg and Steers 200-300kg sold to 400c/kg. Heifers 600-750kg Grain Fed sold to 400c/kg and Grass Fed 351c/kg, Heifers 500-600kg Grain Fed sold to 380c/kg and Grass Fed 338c/kg, Heifers 400-500kg sold to 336c/kg to average 322c/kg, Heifers 200-300kg sold to 292c/kg.
Highlights
The Grand Champion Beast and Sally Taylor Memorial, The Grand Champion Exhibit, Champion Pen of Prime Cattle, Champion Pen of Grain Fed Cattle and Pen of Jap Bullocks – Grain Fed, was won by Hillview Cattle Co “Hillview” Clermont with a pen of Simmental Cross Bullocks, selling for 400c/kg weighing 767kg to return $3070.
The Champion Pen of Trade Steers – Grain Fed, was awarded to Hillview Cattle Co “Hillview” Clermont, with a pen of Simmental Cross Bullocks selling for 394c/kg weighing 690kg to return $2720.
The Champion Pen of Heifers – Grain Fed, was won by Riverview Cattle Co “Riverview” Clermont, with a pen of Brahman Cross Heifers, selling for 400c/kg weighing 614kg to return $2456.
Champion Pen of Prime Cattle – Grass/ Crop Fed, Pen Jap Bullocks – Grain Assist/ Crop Fed, was won by Tay Glen Pastoral Co “Tay Glen” Dysart, with a pen of Angus Cross Bullocks, selling for 352c/kg weighing 675kg to return $2377.
