2023 Beef Expo

1720 head were yarded at the 11th Annual Hoch & Wilkinson’s Clermont Beef Expo on Friday the 27th of October. A tremendous line up of cattle across all sections with prices reflecting the quality. Cattle were drawn from the local Clermont and throughout the Isaac Region. The buying support was very strong and active across all lines, with southern processors active in meatworks section. Feedloters were very active, while local CQ producers were active on the good runs of weaner and store steers.

The Isaac Regional Council sponsored Grand Champion Exhibit was taken out by the Finger Family
“Hillview” Clermont with a pen of 100 day Simmental X Bullocks weighing 762kgs to make 248c/kg to return $1889. This pen also won the pen of 100 Day Jap Bullocks, Champion pen of Grain Fed Cattle, Champion Pen of Prime Cattle.

The Burnett Family “Bendemeer” Clermont took home the Sally Taylor Memorial Trophy with the Champion Beast of the Expo with a 100 Day Grain Fed heifer weighing 785kgs to make 252c/kg to return $1978.

The Pen of Grain Assist/Crop Fed went to the Finger Family “Hillview” Clermont with Simmental bullocks making 238c/kg for 737kgs to come back at $1754. They also won the Champion pen of Prime Crop/Grass fed.

Pen of Grass Fed bullocks was taken out by the Anderson Family “Narrien” Clermont with a pen of Angus X Bullocks weighing 721kgs to make 262c/kg to make $1889.

Pen of Trade 100 day Grain fed steers was won by The Finger Family “Hillview” Clermont with Simmental X steers making 246c/kg for 710kgs to make $1746.

The best pen of Grain Assist/ Crop Fed trade steers went to the Mifsud Family “Glen Idol” Clermont with a pen of Simmental X steers that reached 232c/kg for 684kgs to return $1588.

Grass Fed Trade steers was won by the Anderson Family “Narrien” Clermont with Braford X steers weighing 661kgs to reach 264c/kg to make $1745.

The Pen of Grain Fed Heifers was won by the Scharf Family “Khartoum” Clermont with a pen of Santa heifers 575kgs which made 238c/kg to realise $1369.

The Pen of Grain Assist/Crop Fed heifers went to the Murphy Family “Tay Glen” Dysart with a pen of Droughtmaster X Heifers which weighed 503kgs to make 246c/kg to come back at $1238.

The Grass fed heifers went to the Hughes Family “Wentworth” Clermont with a pen of Droughtmaster X heifers to make 188c/kg for 471kgs to make $885.

Pen of Grain Assist/Crop Fed Cows was taken home by The Murphy Family “Tay Glen” Dysart with a pen of Charbray cows weighing 697kgs to make 184c/kg to come back at $1283.
