Emerald Prime & Store Sale Market Report – 03/09/2026
The Emerald Combined Cattle Sale this week saw a larger yarding of 1,877 head. The yarding was again mixed in quality and type, however there was a larger percentage better-quality cattle offered this week. Cattle were drawn from all local areas, along with lines from Collinsville and Nebo. All the usual meatworks buyers were in attendance, with solid gains recorded across most prime descriptions, particularly the cow market.
Bullocks were in good supply, topping at 432.2c/kg to average 405c/kg, while heavy meatworks bulls reached 404.2c/kg to average 370c/kg. Good heavy local cows sold to a top of 374.2c/kg, averaging 366c/kg, while heavy prime heifers topped at 416.2c/kg to average 405c/kg. A few additional store buyers were active this week in response to the larger yarding, helping drive competition in particular the weaner steers. Feeder steers very limited in supply topped at 484.2c/kg, while weaner steers reached 531.2c/kg to average 425c/kg. Feeder heifers were too few to quote, while weaner heifers averaged 341c/kg. One pen of cows and calves sold for $1,500 per unit.

Chasford Grazing “Chasford” Moranbah, Sold Droughtmaster cross weaner steers weighing 301 kgs which made 502.2c/kg to return $1,514/head.
HK Perrin & RD Smith “Araluen” Clermont, Sold lightweight Droughtmaster cross weaner steers topping the sale at 531.2c/kg weighing 185 kgs to return $987/head.
AP & MK O’Regan “Kelara” Emerald, Sold Droughtmaster weaner steers topping at 500.2c/kg with the lead pen weighing 290 kgs which made 477.2c/kg to return $1,383/head.
