Emerald Prime & Store Sale Market Report – 27/08/2026
The Emerald Combined Cattle Sale this week saw a very limited and mixed quality yarding of 715 head. Cattle were drawn from all local regions with the inclusion of a large consignment from Hughenden. The usual panel of meatworks buyers were present today with the better-quality types selling to a dearer trend. Bullocks very limited in supply topped at 415.2c/kg to average 398c/kg, whilst heavy prime heifers reached 390.2c/kg to average 374c/kg. The heavy cow market saw a significant lift today with cows reaching an isolated 367.2c/kg to average 349c/kg, whilst heavy bulls topped at 378.2c/kg to average 340c/kg. As mentioned, it was a very limited and mixed quality offering of store cattle today, which met with a limited panel of buyers. The better-quality local cattle still sold to healthy competition although the light plainer quality lines meeting very limited competition. Feeder steers reached an isolated 490.2c/kg whilst weaner steers sold to a top of 446.2c/kg. Feeder heifers saw an isolated top of 376.2c/kg whilst weaner heifers reached 350.2c/kg. 2 pens of cows and calves sold from $835 to $1,600/unit.

L & A Ratcliffe “Beantree” Bluff – Sold Droughtmaster x cows weighing 480 kgs which made 340.2c/kg to return $1,632/head.
J & J Smith “Birraban” Springsure – Sold Angus/Santa x weaned steers weighing 257 kgs which made 440.2c/kg to return $1,132/head.
